Spiders, Worms, Frogs –Oh My!
Hello, my San Saba sweethearts; I sure hope you have been staying safe, taking extra precautions and being very careful about that horrible Covid variant. My heart is so sad about what that awful disease has done to this world over the past years and not only in terms of deaths but to the very psyche of our world. I so worry for all of those I love and have never met.
On a much lighter note, boy have I caused the parentals emotional upheaval since last we spoke. I decided I fancied myself an entomologist and wrangler. My first adventure was with a spider in the living room the size of dad’s head. It was, of course, easy for me to spot as we were on the same level. I began lunging, and I do not mean as in exercising. Dad was in the kitchen, saw what I was doing, saw the monster spider, and yelled at me to cease and desist, but I was full-on fascinated. The next thing I knew, I felt dad’s hand on me pushing me away, and then I heard the most sickening splat! It is seldom I see things shorter than am I, but let me tell you, a huge spider super slapped with a fly swatter definitely is! Later that morning, dad and I were out of the front porch and saw a frog who may or may not have gotten lost while going courting. If you could have seen dad’s reaction to my trying to strike up a friendship with the frog you would have thought I was trying to kiss the West African Banded Cobra that got loose in the Dallas area! I thought he was going to have a coronary! Look, I know parentals are protective of those they love, cradle in their hearts; however, those loves must be allowed some kind breathing and exploring room. Hey, mom is no better; she swept a whole pile of furry little worms out of my reach on the back porch when I tried to grab them off the back wall! I think it is time to remind them what dachshund means…badger dog!
It has been a good week at the Schulz Diner, yep, very satisfying. Mom made pup a batch of chicken livers with baby broccoli for me. I get a laugh out of the fact that both parentals gag when they open the container to dish out my breakfast portion. Chicken livers may be the only food on earth dad does not like. Believe it or not, that is a good thing since the man has tasted my dog treats! I miss mom cooking for me, so I have really enjoyed the delicious warmth of her loving touch.
I love you, my San Saba dears, and I hope you have a really wonderful week. Please be safe and vigilant. I adore speaking to you each week, sharing my life with you, knowing you will be here to give you a hug. I so look forward to spending time with you…thank you for being.
