San Saba VFD assists Richland Springs VFD in house fire

On Sunday morning, July 11th, San Saba Volunteer Fire Department (SSVFD) answered the emergency call to assist the Richland Springs VFD in battling a house fire in Richland Springs. The fire was extinguished but the structure suffered considerable fire, smoke, and water damage, according to SSVFD volunteers.

As noted in Sue Ransom’s article - The Richland Springs Report - the house belonged to Frank Pearce but was rented by Richland Springs ISD’s new superintendent, James Womack, and his family.

Again, according to Sue’s article, the cause of the fire was a lightening strike to the house. One VFD source stated kids and dogs were in the house, heard the loud noise and smelled smoke. They hurriedly got the dogs out of the house and ran to a house to alert adults about the incident.

Kudos go to the parents who taught the kids what to do in case of a fire. The kids are all safe today because of what their parents taught them. Keep the Womacks in your thoughts and prayers during this unsettling time.
