Hill Country CattleWomen hold awards meeting

The end-of-year meeting for Hill Country CattleWomen was held at the Bar Cross Cattle Company; the meeting was hosted by owner, Karen Schneider, and neighbor Alice Anderson. In the beautiful setting under huge oak trees on the Guadalupe River, a fabulous beef lunch was served by the Hungry Horse Caterers from Boerne.

Peyton Schumann, Director of Government Relations for the TSCRA, spoke on the proposed 3030 legislation as well as current and ongoing legislation affecting ranchers and land stewardship interests.

Members were honored for their hard-working contributions this past year. The “Behind the Scenes” recipient Janet Zintgraff from Fredericksburg received a silver HCCW pendant. Janet was an outstanding chair of the Ways & Means Committee. Suzanne Crowe from Fredericksburg was awarded CattleWoman of the year for her outstanding work on the Beef Rewards Committee. She also received a silver HCCW pendant for her contributions and efforts. As outgoing President, Kitty Sue Quinn was honored with a beautiful silver and gold bracelet designed by Rios with the HCCW logo and the state of Texas engravings. Kitty Sue was an inspiration during COVID, keeping the organization going, keeping members in-touch and spear-heading fundraising while everyone was social-distancing.

The new slate of officers for the 2021-2022 year were also sworn-in. New President, Deborah Van Tellingen, Johnson City; 1st VP, Teri Stone of Mason; 2nd VP, Dianne Staudt of Fredericksburg; 3rd VP, Amy Guinn of Mason; 4th VP, Paulette Keller of Mason; Treasurer, Louanne McDowell of Llano; Secretary, Terri Dickey of San Saba, and Corresponding Secretary, Teri Hartmann from Fredericksburg; assumed their offices for the upcoming year.
