Commissioners’ Court holds regular meeting, June 15th

The San Saba Commissioners’ Court met for a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 15th, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Minutes of the Previous Commissioners' Court Meeting(s).

County Official and Departmental Reports:

2. County/District Clerk: Approve Subject to Audit or Reject Clerk's Report:

Ms. Wells stated her office is still staying busy.

Decision: The Court unani mously approved the County/District Court Clerk’s Report Subject to Audit.

3. County Treasurer: Approve Subject to Audit or Reject Treasurer's Report:

Written report available to Court.

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Treasurer's Report Subject to Audit.

4. County Justice of the Peace: Approve Subject to Audit or Reject JP Report:

Ms. Blossman provided the following account information for the month of May 2021:

Total: $19,859.03

Community Service/Jail Credit: $2,483.00

Total to the County: $ 10,391.86

Small Claims and Civil: $184.00

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the JP Report Subject to Audit.

5. County Sheriff and Jail: Approve Subject to Audit or Reject Sheriff's Jail Report:

The jail total was 275 with an average of 8.87 days.

Sheriff Jenkins reported that Kyle Niazer resigned.

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the County Sheriff's Jail Report Subject to Audit. Special Action Items (and Non-Action Items):

1. Discuss and Take Possible Action on County Insurance Renewal Presented by Rick Baskin:

Insurance rates for the County have increased to 13%, or amounts to about $68K/year.

Decision: The Court voted unanimously to approve the renewal of the County's insurance as administered by Baskin Insurance Agency.

2. Accept or Reject Backhoe Purchase for $43,000 From Cisco Equipment for Pct. 1:

Decision: The Court voted unanimously to accept the backhoe purchase for $43,000 from Cisco Equipment for Precinct 1.

3. Discuss and Take Possible Action on COVID-19:

Ms. Hardy stated that approximately one-third of the county-wide population has been vaccinated.

Decision: No action required at this time.

4. Take Possible Action Concerning Burn Ban (Current Status: Burn Ban LIFTED As of 01-04-2021):

Decision: This item was tabled.

5. Approve or Reject Proposed Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers:

Ms. VanBeck presented three Line Item Transfers – one each for the Library, roads, and the bridge.

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the three Line Item Transfers.

6. Approve or Reject Proposed Accounts Payable;

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Proposed Accounts Payable.

7. Discuss Next Commissioners' Court Date & Time:

The next Commissioners’ Court will be held Monday, July 12th, at

9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Courtroom.
