Mom’s are the Best
Hello, my San Saba friends, and how are you are? Perhaps I should not admit this, but I have been humming rain, rain go away because dad disallows our morning walks due to the proclivity of my dachshund hair acting as a sponge when we do. Hey, I would aver I have spent enough time on the inside the past year and a half… yeah, I have done my jail time!
By the time you read this I will actually be shed of some of that hair, and no, I do not mean it will end up on mom’s hardwoods, as silky wire dachshund do not shed. No, I mean dad has yet again made an appointment with my groomer. Am I excited? Would you be excited about getting your hair pulled out? Mom adores my face, well she actually adores everything about me (almost everything), but dad complains about it having too much hair. What really worries me is with summer getting close, I may come home completely naked!
Mom is leaving me this weekend! Shawn is coming up from Houston to pick her up and whisk her away to a ranch at Lake LBJ, just the two of the them! Mom told me they haven’t had a weekend together alone since she can even remember, and I am so happy for her. I am, but I am also Herman, and I fear she will be taking a big part of my happy with her. Yes, I admit I have a selfish streak and when it comes to mom; I am like a big bear hug and want to keep her close to my heart always. I admit I will miss her terribly, but I do hope she has fun because I love her and so love my Shawn.
We did absolutely nothing on Mother’s Day, but mom did get phone calls from the kids. Lani was going to ride the Galveston ferry and have lunch with natural mom, Shawn was having a barbecue with his in-laws, Dean was going to Debbie’s mom for dinner and Tony was working on a car. Dad never tells mom Happy Mother’s Day, and what he has always said is…“You are not my mother.” Mom laughs. Sometimes I think about those words and think when I see her act in a certain way, do certain things, I want to tell her…“Hey mom, stop doing that, remember, stop picking up after dad because he told you - you are not his mother!” I love you, my San Saba dears! I hope you have an amazing week until next time we speak. I will tell you how mom and Shawn’s time together at Lake LBJ went. Thank you for being.
