San Saba Garden Club mourns the sudden passing of an active member

She was bright, sweet, perky, full of life, with moxie and determination. Becky Moore was abruptly ushered to her eternal garden home on Wednesday evening, March 24, 2021.

Becky was an outspoken member of the San Saba Garden Club since 2012. She became chairman of the Scholarship committee where she flourished in the role. She was passionate about finding students who would benefit the most, and when she would speak of the recipients or read their thank you’s to the club, she would gush with tears of joy. Becky loved those kids and felt especially connected to them, and was so delighted that the Garden Club could shower them a financial boost for their college dreams.

Recently, Becky had been assigned to a newly formed Ad Hoc Memorial Committee where she and other committee members were researching placing a memorial bench in front of the Mill Pond Clubhouse Garden to honor the memory of those club members whom we have lost, including Marcie Cooper, a cherished former member who passed away just last December. Little did anyone suspect that we would so soon be honoring Becky Moore as well.

Becky had been elected as an officer for the upcoming 2021-2023 Garden Club term, although someone else must now fill her role. No one will be able to fill the empty space left in our hearts by her passing. She deeply loved her family, her friends, and her adopted community of San Saba. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Larry, Leigh Ann and Scott, Robin and Mike, and her grandchildren, who we kept abreast of through Becky’s proud “MiMi” sharings of their activities and accomplishments.

We will all miss her quite dearly.
