San Saba Garden Club elects 2021-23 officers; plans spring garage sale

The March meeting of the San Saba Garden Club was held on Tuesday, March 2nd, at the Garden Clubhouse and the Pavilion in Mill Pond Park. Hostesses Becky Moore (chair), Rhonda Killion, and Mona McMahan served delicious boxed tea lunches containing pimiento cheese and chicken salad finger sandwiches, grape clusters, lemon bars, and coconut-pecan mounds.

Refreshments were followed by a brief business meeting that included announcement of the proposed 2021-23 slate of officers: president Debbie Shahan, vice president Trish Fullerton, recording secretary Janice Bates, corresponding secretary Becky Moore, treasurer Marjean Henderson, parliamentarian and historian Dianna Furlan, and reporter Anne Vincent. After a motion was made and seconded, officers were unanimously elected.

Following the business meeting, members headed to the Pavilion for an expert lesson in preparing spring planters. Each member had brought a container of her choice to fill with flowers provided by the Garden Club. Gail Bruner, long-time Garden Club member and former president, organized the event and gave special tips for successful planting, including proper drainage using coffee filters and layers of natural materials, which were supplied as part of the mini-workshop. The day was lovely, and the Pavilion provided an excellent space for social distancing while working on a common project.

A field trip is planned in lieu of the regular April club meeting. For more information, please contact co-presidents Rhonda Killion <rjkillion@centex.net> or Mona McMahan <mona. mcmahangroup@gmail.com>.
