Owen Parks retires

After 38, almost 39 years, of serving on the Hickory UWCD Board of Directors, W. Owen Parks of the City of San Saba officially resigned at the regular March 18 Board Meeting.

Owen Parks has been a part of groundwater district since the first official steering committee meeting on October 23, 1980. In 1982 at the first formal board meeting, Parks was elected to serve as Board President. He served in that capacity for 38 years and five months. Other members of the very first board of directors were Roy Carter, Earl Behrens, Mark Martin, and Dewey Eckert.

The board has not appointed anybody to replace Parks yet. They are still in the process of identifying potential candidates for the position as director for Precinct 1. The individual must be a resident of that precinct which is City of San Saba proper.

Currently the board is comprised of Amy Greer, President (Pct. 5); Bill Sloan, Vice-President (Pct 2); Gay Nesloney, Secretary (Pct 3) and Don Williams, Director (Pct 4).
