In 2014, Susan Rea Polio Chair of Rotary District 9550 in Queensland, Australia, founded the World’s Greatest Meal, a program in which Rotarians host meals, anything from two people having lunch to elaborate gourmet dinners, and ask for donations. WGM started small but has grown enormously, and with matching funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, WGM has raised over $7 million to date.
San Saba Rotary Club of San Saba asks that you take a minute and donate to ending Polio for ever. The entire month of March, we will have the boxes out for giving; let’s all show some love and help end this horrible disease. The San Saba Rotary Club is distributing giving boxes this week so that the whole community can be a part of getting rid of Polio. Look for a box; they will be in the entire county.
This week, we were honored with our February and March Students of the Month. Febrauary’s student of the month, Gilberto Baez, was featured in the February 11, 2021 issue.
We also were brought up to date with the Volunteer Fire Department and the many things they take part in and do to serve our community.
The Rotary Club of San Saba is a well known and active service club in the San Saba Community as well as a part of Rotary International. Our goal in our organization is to stamp out Polio, but also we have many various undertakings that put us involved in projects all over the globe. In each one, we have the mindset of service.
There are over 32,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 200 countries that provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
That being said, Our Club As A Whole would like to publicly Thank Each Person who served and took part working and helping in our recent snow and ice event. Many people worked tirelessly around the clock to keep us safe in our homes and the community safe in making sure that our roads were good, our electric needs were met, water lines repaired, food was available and so many more needs met.
Many good deeds may not ever be brought to the public's attention, but rest assured, it was appreciated.
Trying to give honor and show respect is almost impossible to give to each of you individually, but know Service Above Self and One Profits Most Who Serves Best are two of our official mottoes and that you have made us proud of your Service Above Self.
