News was received here yesterday that Judge Martin had resigned and that Gov. Colquitt had appointed N. T. Stubbs of Johnson City to fill the vacancy.

A delightful time was spent by a few close friends with Miss Mamie Hagan on the evening of the thirty-first watching the old year out and the new in. Forty-two served as a diversion interspersed with music and conversation. As the midnight hour approached a tempting and well prepared luncheon was served consisting of sandwiches, salad, olives, coffee, gelatine with whipped cream and cake. Those enjoying the hospitality were: Misses Fannie Kirkpatrick, Carrie Sanderson, Essie Hudson, Mamie Hagan, Messrs. W. S. Bickham, W. E. White, J. H. Cummins, A. Horton.

The young folks who are inclined to pranks, moved almost everything last Thursday night. They placed a cultivator in front of the Star office door. We hope this will be a good omen for 1915 that the Star may "cultivate" the acquaintance of every man, woman and child in San Saba county.

Another year has gone with father time, and brother we ain't getting any younger. Hope all of you folks had a good Christmas and have a nice New Year. I've still got the same old gal and singing along with Mitch. We inventoried our store this past Saturday afternoon and at 3:30 p.m. we turned over the keys of Cherokee Grocery to Hermon and Sue Rhoades, who purchased the store from us. We think the world and all of Hermon, Sue and Traci and wish them the very best. We hope you will support them as you have us in the past years. Maridell and I wish to thank you a million for your support and encouragement while we were there. We met people from all the worlds, Greece, Italy, Germany, Spain, South Africa, Old Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and I'm sure of other places. We will continue to help Hermon and Sue for some time in every way we can.
