Ho Ho Ho But Not in a Field!
It is Christmas week, my San Saba darlings! Oh yes, the week of secrets, whispering, closed doors and noises coming from the garage that no one understands. Are you a person who looks through drawers, opens cabinets, looks in boxes in a corner or nonchalantly opens closets as if looking for your favorite jacket all the while checking pockets for a ring box? Personally, I am not excited about gifts because when it comes to toys, I will not be able to play with them if I do get one. No, I am not being a Grinch about things, just don’t want to count my chickens when my fence currently has an enormous hole in it.
One of my Facebook friends played this game, and she posted it to my page. And my name came up as saying my gift was a Harley Davidson. Oh dear gosh, can you imagine this wire-haired dachshund driving the streets of San Saba on a motorcycle? Ray Riggs would be after me before I could get out my driveway! I goggled those things…oops, I mean Googled. See, I got so excited at the thought, I have been accessorizing, and boy do they have some power - and more than short little dachshund legs! I happen to know where mom keeps a small stash of cash, and I could run by the doughnut shop, a few local restaurants and stop by on the way home for a coke! Mom wouldn’t even let me talk to her about it because both my brothers, Tony and Shawn, had motorcycles, and mom said she worried so much about them her heart stayed in her throat each time they road them. Hmm, I would never make mom want to cough up her heart, so I am glad it was just imaginary.
We have been watching Christmas shows, and I really enjoy them. But I have to say I do not understand this fascination with snow. Personally if dad put me in the freezer, shut the door and walked away, came back a few minutes later and asked if I had fun, I would be calling every authority on earth! I have seen the snow around our freezer, and nope, not for me! There is a reason a snowman melts in the sun and I don’t, and I like it that way. If others like snow, it is fine, I am very happy they do, and they can play in it all day. I hope if it ever snows again in San Saba, it snows in everyone’s yard but mine. What, mom? That is impossible? Don’t be silly, mom…it is Christmas, nothing is impossible!
I love you, my San Saba sweethearts. I hope you have the most wonderful and beautiful Christmas! Love that you have this day, hug those around you; the life you get to live, no matter how meager, how trouble ridden… always, always there are those who suffer worse. Thank you for being!
