The junior high One Act Play under the direction of Sarah Locker and Patsy Hall competed at the Rochelle ISD One Act Play Festival on Friday, December 11th. Rochelle ISD, Lohn ISD and Brownwood ISD also competed at the Festival. Richland Spring presented Leading Ladies by Ken Ludwig. The cast of Leading Ladies included Jaspur Farris, Landry Brown, Troy Kubin, D.J. Valdez, Flora Appleton, Sirr Beam, Billy Perry, Calyn Kubin, and Maggie Bryant. Crew included Xander Hoevers, Rush Norris, Chancy McCoury, Layne Ward, Raiden Taylor, Gage Behrens and Megan Lux. It was an excellent performance by these young thespians, and at the end of the day the OAP judge, Mrs. Dawn Hahn, announced Richland Springs as First Place in the One Act Play Festival competition. Individual awards included: Jaspur Farris (Best Performer); Landry Brown, Troy Kubin, and D.J. Valdez (All-Star Cast); and Flora Appleton, Billy Perry, and Sirr Beam (Honorable Mention All-Star Cast). The junior high cast and crew were happy to point out that they were undefeated. Sarah Locker did a great job steering all this junior high energy in the right direction. Congratulations to the directors, cast and crew of Leading Ladies!
Girls’ basketball Coach Dara Chandler and the Lady Coyotes are off to a great start. The varsity boys’ have yet to play their first game as they are advancing to the State football championship game. The Richland Springs junior high boys’ team has a 1-1 record, and the girls’ team is undefeated with a 2-0 record. Both teams are both doing well this season and are fun to watch. Come out and support our young athletes in UIL competition.
Shawn Dennis reminds everyone that the San Saba County Stock Show is January 8th. Students, parents and RSISD student ag show participants need to know that show animal prep and shearing for the county show will be in the ag shop on Wednesday, January 6, and Thursday, January 7.
The Christmas holidays will soon be upon us. The first semester of the 2020-2021 school year will soon be history. Classes will end Friday, December 18, with a normal release at 4:15 p.m. Busses run at 4:15 p.m. Classes resume for faculty and students on January 5, 2021. The spring semester brings preparations for state mandated testing. Education is a key to future success. Those that are prepared will increase their opportunities in life’s journeys. If you make the effort to prepare for academic success, it will come. It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success.
The holidays are always a welcomed break. It is a time to recharge and enjoy the holidays. Warmest wishes to all from the Richland Springs’ students and staff.
