“Relentless Pursuit”
To say the least it has been an exciting season! Excessive rain at Hico, running on a old horse track in Junction, the down hill up hill course in Iredell, the dreaded rival Mason meet, “Thrill of the hill” in Stephenville that the kids felt like would never end, and the lastly the good competition we ran into at Lipan. Each of these meets all lead up to the impeccable performance of the Dillo and Lady Dillo Cross Country Teams at their District meet Monday, October 19th. UIL ruled early on this season
UIL ruled early on this season due to “COVID-19” that only the top two teams out of District will advance to the Regional Cross Country meet vs. the top four as in the past. For any of you that are familiar with the depth of talent that our district runners possess, you know that finishing 1st or Runner-Up is not a “walk in the park.” In any sport on any field, course, or court, when we face Harper, Mason, Goldthwaite, Junction, Johnson City, or Center Point, they are coming for the Dillos!
The training these athletes have put in at this point in the season has been of a caliber that would allow us to be prepared to obtain either a District Championship or Runner-Up Title. On Monday, October 19th, your Dillo and Lady Dillo Cross Country teams fought to pull out the District Runner-Up title. With this title, both teams have now clinched a ride to the Regional Cross Country meet on November 10th in Corpus Christi.
Dillos and Lady Dillos, we are proud of you! The sacrifices, dedication, and determination you each have shown for the Armadillo athletic program is admired and mostly importantly respected. To our Administration and community members who so graciously lent a hand this season whether it be your time helping at a meet, donated items, our incredible golf course host site, and ATV lenders, we appreciate you!
