Last Friday night, the Dillos extended their home game winning streak to 10 games by easily defeating the visitors from Eldorado 56-14. It was a hot and muggy evening with the game-time temperature over 100 degrees, and the only breeze the crowd enjoyed was from the ones they created themselves. That didn’t seem to bother the home team at all, as it was evident throughout the game San Saba’s endurance was far superior to the Eagles.

A tip of the hat should be given to the Armadillo coaching staff for getting the players in shape! The game had several “injury” time outs late in the game as it felt like the Eldorado players kept failing out due to cramps.

Leading in the offensive stats this week was running back Stone Sears. Sears had 185 yards rushing on 22 carries (8.4 avg) with 4 rushing touchdowns. Sears also had 3 receptions for 67 yards (22.3 avg) and 1 receiving TD.

Quarterback Risien Shahan had a solid game as well; Shahan was 11 of 14 passing (78%) with 165 yards in the air and 1 TD passing. Shahan also had 58 yards rushing on 9 attempts (6.4 avg) and 1 rushing TD.

Other Dillos getting in on the action were Logan Glover (2 rec. 48 yards), Justin Yarbrough (3 rec. 16 yards – 45 yards rushing on 6 attempts, 1 rushing TD), Wesley Lackey (1 reception 19 yards-11 rushes for 85 yards, 1 rushing TD), and Franco Franco had 2 receptions for 15 yards.

On the defensive side, Landon Yarbrough led the team with 9 tackles and one sack. Dylan Ware had 7 tackles and one sack, followed by Luis Ramirez with 6 tackles and one sack, and Franco Franco picked up his 1st interception of the year.

The Dillo defense only allowed 59 total yards in the game, 60 yards were in the air and held the Eagles to -1 yards rushing. One TD was on a busted play, and the other came with just :54 seconds left in the game when most of the starters had been sent to the sideline for the evening.

Next week, San Saba will be going up against 3A Rogers Eagles at Rogan Field. Game time is set for 7:30. Please note that all tickets are PRE-SALE ONLY through the administration office during the week.
