Review from Amazon –

On the 15th of April, 1865, three years after losing his Dad in the Civil War, sixteenyear-old E.T. (T) Sanders, his Mom, and Uncle Frank, load all their worldly possessions into a covered wagon at their small homestead in Hayesville, North Carolina, and head West to join up with relatives in the small Central Texas town of San Saba. The five month long journey is filled with excitement and heartbreak. Shortly before reaching their destination, Uncle Frank is killed by three ruthless murderers. This incident turns out to be the driving force behind a long career in law enforcement for "T", which includes a short stint with the famed Texas Rangers and then many years as the Sheriff of San Saba County, culminating with bringing an end to one of the most notorious "Mobs" in Texas history.
