The 61st annual San Saba County Pecan Food Show was held December 1st in the County Offices at the Arrowhead Bank Building. Following the competition, the bake sale was held in the lobby.

Six judges from neighboring counties spent a busy morning tasting 49 entries. There were two judges for each Division. First they chose the best entry from each category: Appetizer, Bread, Cake, Candy, Cookies and Fancy Nuts and gave them a blue ribbon. Then the judges chose the best from the blue ribbon winners in their division to receive the Grand and Reserve Champion Rosettes.

In the Club division, they chose Orabeth Hicks’ Butter Toffee-Pecan Cake as Grand Champion. The Spicy Pecans made by Barbara Gorter Bell took the Reserve Champion honors. In the Non-Club division, the Grand Champion rosette was given to Valerie Cortinovis for her Rosemary Chipotle Spice Pecans and Gale Ivy took the Reserve Champion rosette with her Pecan Bars.
