The San Saba Elementary students (K-4th) once again teamed up with the American Heart Association in an effort to raise funds and help millions of Americans affected with heart issues. This was our fifth year to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) event, otherwise known as Jump Rope For Heart (JRFH). As a campus, $7,856.34 was raised in donations to help the cause, with a grand total of $44,455.58 for the combined five years.

We can’t express a big enough “THANK YOU” to the community, parents, family and friends who continue to support us in this event! Pason King got the recognition for bringing in the most donations this year with $1,169.56. Rounding out the top 5 donation earners along with Pason were: Kaden Lemaster, Emma Whitley, Anelise Felan and Creed Sloan. Bailey Huff was the top donation earner for the 2018-19 school year.

Every student did their part and understood the relevance of giving back in order to help kids with special heart conditions while at the same time learned how important it is to keep themselves healthy. Throughout the three-week event, the students were reminded how important it is to stay active, drink more water, eat more fruits/vegetables, keep sodium levels low, and say “NO” to tobacco and vaping. They know what a difference they can make in being a “Heart Hero!”
