Several students at Richland Springs received awards from the Soil and Water Conservation District essay contest. Brynli Chandler received 1st place in both District and Area. Piper Moats received 2nd place in District. Gracie Ashworth received 3rd place in District. Congratulations to all these students in representing Richland Springs School.

School districts continue to remain focused on the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis first and foremost. Governor Abbott’s March 31, 2020 Executive Order requires all school districts to remain closed through May 4, 2020. Texas schools are closing (not allowing students on campus) and having students remain at home and sending instruction to students. RSISD campus is closed March 23, 2020 through May 4, 2020. These dates can be extended. As with all school districts, Richland Springs ISD is working to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus. Our primary goal is the safety of our community, students and staff.

Staff has varied methods for homebound instruction, from internet instruction to packet pickup. Our packet pickup routine is changing. For future parent pickup--teachers have materials packed individually per student and placed in a box or bin with teacher name on it. Principal Rhonda Wyatt will move the bins/ boxes to the benches in front of the library on Monday morning and parents will come pickup their child’s materials between 8-4 Monday. This “social distancing” will be safer for families and for district employees.

The ‘new normal’ during COVID-19 is being experienced by everyone in their own way. Contact Principal Rhonda Wyatt with your concerns and questions. We are here to work with parents and students to complete this school year in a safe-as-possible manner.

Please look at the information on this webpage. According to the webpage there are a few simple routines that will help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

There are simple steps everyone can take to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses like COVID-19:

•Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

•Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

•Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Stay home when you are sick.

•Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

•Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Seven weeks remain in the 2019-2020 school year. Please pray for our schools and our country.
