County Judge’s Update

After consulting with, and weighing the recommendations of your school superintendents, community leaders, and the TDSHS I have concluded that a local disaster declaration for San Saba County is not appropriate at this time. I can’t overstate, however, the importance of following the common-sense and important steps recommended by both local and state health providers to control the sig-nificant danger that COVID-19 poses to the few valuable and vulnerable individuals in our communities. At the risk of losing your attention, I will repeat the two recommendations that I believe are the most important. First, if you are mildly sick, stay home, it’s probably the flu but why risk it. Difficulty breathing or prolonged high fever, call your medical provider. Second, significantly reduce contact with other individuals, especially large groups.

Your county government will continue to perform its necessary duties using the recommended and appropriate adjustments. We will continue to function effectively while reducing public gatherings and individual contact where possible.

The underlying message is “Be prepared, but not panicked.”
