Catching up with the Commissioners

The County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, September 21st. The meeting convened at 9:00 am.

Judge Fauley started first with the presentation of Unclaimed Capital Credits to the ClearView Family Resources and praised the work that the organization has been able to achieve. Many board members of Clearview were present to accept the letter with the funds to come later and thanked the County Commissioners for providing the financial support. They noted that ClearView was honoring their donors at a gathering at the Fiesta Winery on October 5th.

Next item was a discussion on approving an amended Interlocal Agreement with Hamilton EMS. In general, the current agreement would be extended for three additional years at the same rate as presently contracted with the Hamilton EMS receiving San Saba County's ambulance through a lease arrangement. This item was eventually tabled to gather more information on insurance requirements.

Following this Jeff Kloc with Watkins Insurance Group made a detailed presentation on Health Care premium and benefits proposals for County workers which are up for renewal. He offered new options for the Commissioners to consider to enhance benefits for employees as well as reduce costs to the County overall. The Commissioners thanked Mr. Kloc, and the County Treasurer noted that the Commissioners had until October 7th to decide on the plans for the upcoming year.

Next was a review of a possible contract award for an RFQ on the Design and Construction of the Dispatch Center. A representative from International Construction Engineers (ICE) was present and the only other submission received was by Waldrop Construction in Brownwood. Judge Fauley noted that since no actual monetary bids were requested, no binding contracts were to be voted on. It was a review of qualifications only to be followed up with negotiations on an actual cost for the management of the project. The Commissioners approved Waldrop and noted ICE was also still a backup should Waldrop not meet the County's cost requirements.

The Commissioners then approved the County's Certification Pay Policy and the 2027 Holiday Schedule for County employees.

Following that, the Commissioners approved the signing of the 2027 RAMP Grant Agreement for the San Saba Airport, the signing of a Resolution for the Home Delivered Meal Grant Program, the signing of the Dispatch Interlocal with the City of San Saba, and the signing of the Municipal Court Interlocal with the City of San Saba.

An agenda item on updating Saw Mill Ridge's Construction Bond to a Maintenance Bond was tabled pending a review and further discussion of the requirements to proceed with this change.

The Burn Ban was continued as IN EFFECT.

Amendments and Line-Item Transfers as well as Accounts Payable were approved.

The next Commissioners Court meetings will be October 5th and the 26th…all at 9 am.
