Citizens for Change—a nonpartisan community organization serving McCulloch, Kimble, Mason, Menard, and surrounding counties—will sponsor a debate between Representative Wes Virdell and candidate Kathryn Hartmann, who are running for Texas House Representative in District 53. The debate will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the McCulloch County Library. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The debate will be livestreamed from KNEL so voters across the district can tune in. Both candidates will receive equal speaking time, a neutral moderator, and the complete rules in advance. Questions will cover key issues relevant to Hill Country voters, gathered directly from residents and screened for fairness. Everyone is welcome to attend.
