Temporary closures of FM 2997 and FM 45 for railroad crossing replacements this week

– The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) advises motorists of temporary closures of FM 45 and FM 2997, in and near Richland Springs, as Midwest Tracks Company replaces railroad crossings in these two locations.

September 16-18: FM 45 The first closure will begin on FM 45 (Carter Street) in Richland Springs at 7 AM on Wednesday, September 16. Work requires approximately three (3) days of construction and is expected to be complete by approximately 5 PM on Friday, September 18, weather permitting.

Detour routes

• Southbound FM 45: Travel north on FM 45 to FM 2997. Proceed west and then south on FM 2997 to US 190. Then take US 190 east to reconnect with the southern portion of FM 45 at Richland Springs.

• Northbound FM 45: Travel south on FM 45 to US 190. Proceed west to FM 2997. Then travel north and then east on FM 2997 to reconnect with the northern portion of FM 45.

September 19-22: FM 2297 The second closure will occur on FM 2997, west of Richland Springs, beginning at 7 AM on Saturday, September 19. The closure is expected to last four (4) days, with work completed by 5 PM on Tuesday, September 22, weather permitting.

Detour routes

• Southbound FM 2997: Utilize southbound FM 45 to US 190. Proceed west on US 190 to reconnect with the southern portion of FM 2997.

• Northbound FM 2997: Travel south on FM 2997, then turn east on US 190 to FM 45. Proceed north on FM 45 to reconnect with the northern portion of FM 2997.

Emergency responders and school bus services have been advised of the upcoming closures. Message boards have been placed at US 190 and FM 45 to prepare motorists for the upcoming closures.
