Two very important 765kV transmission line hearings are scheduled over the next two weeks: - House State Affairs Committee Public Hearing on Data Centers & 765kV Transmission Lines, 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2026 - PUC Commissioners Open Meeting on 765kV Transmission Line Policy Issues, 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026 The House Committee Hearing on August 19th is extremely important for landowners. Both meetings are discussed below.
House State Affairs Committee August 19th Hearing After the Senate Business and Commerce Committee Hearing on July 29th, Speaker Dustin Burrows announced the House State Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on 765kV transmission lines on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, '...to help ensure Texans have a meaningful voice in the planning of this project.' The August 19th Hearing will also include testimony about Data Centers.
At the Senate hearing on July 29th, over 200 landowners explained the impact the proposed 765kV lines will have on their land and their families. The landowners excellent testimony caught the attention of the Senators on the Business & Commerce Committee. Thirty-six hours later, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Chairman Schwertner issued statements '...calling on the PUC to deny all the pending applications for 765kV transmission lines, and not consider reapplications until the transmission companies can address the serious concerns raised by landowners at [the July 29th] hearing.'
The August 19th House State Affairs Committee Hearing is extremely important for landowners: - The Texas House of Representatives operates separately from the Texas Senate. The House State Affairs Committee will not rely on the Senate Hearing. The Representatives on the Committee want to hear directly from regulators, transmission companies and related trade groups, and landowners.
- Landowners must show up in force at the House State Affairs Committee Hearing and deliver the same excellent testimony they delivered at the Senate Hearing to maintain their momentum.
- Please contact Friends of the San Saba (FOSS) at friendsoft-hesansaba@ gmail.com if you can attend the Hearing or if you would like further information.
PUC Commissioners August 14th Open Meeting on 765kV Policy Issues PUC Chairman Thomas Gleeson scheduled an open meeting for the PUC Commissioners at 9:30 a.m., this Friday, August 14, 2026: - To Discuss 765kV policy issues with the Commissioners and ERCOT. No one else is expected to testify at this Hearing.
- No final decisions will be made about any of the five pending 765kV CCN applications and no facts specific to any individual CCN application will be discussed at this meeting. But the discussion will raise issues common to the pending 765kV CCN application proceedings.
- ERCOT has been asked to explain their plan to audit all the proposed Data Centers as requested by Governor Abbott in his letter dated August 3rd to the PUC and ERCOT.
The August 14th Open Hearing will be broadcast live starting at 9:30 a.m., and a recording will also be available. Anyone can watch the live or recorded broadcast on the PUC's website at https://www.adminmonitor.com/tx/puct/open_meeting/20260814/.
