It’s good to be home. Vacations are fun, but there’s a catchup time on a ton of things. Russ and my son Shane repaired the lawn mower, so the yard is cut and much neater. I worked on weed eating early one morning. Once the thermometer reaches ninety plus, I’m doing inside work. I had to laugh just now because co-pilot wanted to correct my weed eating comment to, I ate the weed. AI is not always the answer to writing issues.
My week shut down on Friday. I went to take care of my son-inlaw Mark and found him making crazy comments. I suspected he was having another stroke and called the EMTs. Many hours later he was transferred to Temple for more tests with his brain doctor. I want to thank Hendrick Medical in Brownwood for their help during this challenging time. Mark will be staying in Temple for a few days while they evaluate his issues. I want to thank the many prayer friends who have joined in prayer for his healing. I’m not sure what the future holds right now.
The Men’s prayer breakfast went very well. I want to remind all the men and boys in the area that they are welcome to attend the second Saturday of the month. Breakfast is served at 7:00 a.m.
The quilting ladies will resume meetings in September. They will also attend a quilting retreat at Lake Brownwood on September 15th. There is one spot open if you are interested. Kay McKee has a new project and a new book to read. If you just want to come and share the reading, please consider yourself invited.
School starts next week. This is the first year I’m not cleaning the classroom and preparing lesson plans. It is a giant change for me. I may get some long-term plans completed. I pray our little school will have an impressive rebuilding year. God bless our teachers.
Thank you to all the workers and participants who attended the Community Luncheon on Sunday. The Preservation Society is rebuilding their bank balance after the recent repairs. They’re waiting on a quote for the floor repair in the main bank building. The funds raised will hopefully accomplish that goal. Thank you, wonderful community families who bring food then donate money to share the meal. What a tremendous group of people.
Don’t forget to bring food for the teachers’ in-service next week. Each church, the school board and the Howlers Club have volunteered to bring lunch.
Pease pray for our school year, our teacher and administrative staff, and our students. One of our young ones, Ryhet Wysong, needs prayers and a new kidney. Please keep him in your prayers. My son-in-law Mark is in Temple with major health issues. Elizabeth Johnson is awaiting test results for her health problems. Pray for our country, the Iranian people, our country and governmental system, and our troops engaged around the world. God bless America and God bless our precious troops and their families. Watch out for school kids and buses.
