Elm Grove Echoes

The countdown is on for the annual Elm Grove Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry and Fundraiser, coming up Saturday, June 13. Come one, come all, and join friends and neighbors for an evening of great food, fellowship, and community spirit. This longtime tradition is one of the highlights of the year, and it's a wonderful opportunity to support the volunteers who work so hard to protect our community. We hope to see a great crowd gathered at the fire station as we celebrate another year of service and friendship.

If you've spent any time outdoors lately, you've probably noticed just how green everything is. From the fields and pastures to the trees lining our country roads, northwest San Saba County is wearing its finest shades of green. The recent rains have certainly helped, and I measured two-tenths of an inch on Tuesday and another four-tenths of an inch at my place this past Saturday night. While we're never sure what Texas weather will do next, the cooler temperatures and moisture have made for some beautiful scenery. It's a welcome sight to see green grass underfoot, healthy-looking fields, and trees full of fresh summer growth as we move into June.

The Graceful Quilters, who normally meet each Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Richland Springs First Baptist Church, are currently enjoying their spring and summer break. While the ladies may be taking a vacation from their regular meetings, many are still staying busy attending quilting retreats and working on special projects. During this time, our Tuesday afternoon Bible study has moved to my home and continues to meet each Tuesday at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us as we study God's Word, encourage and support one another, and enjoy the fellowship of an amazing group of women. Whether you are a longtime Bible student or simply looking for a place to connect, we would love to have you join us.

As always, thank you to everyone who has called, texted, emailed, and shared feedback about Elm Grove Echoes. I truly enjoy hearing from readers and appreciate your support. This Saturday, I will be traveling to Seattle to spend time with my son, Rod, before he is deployed to the Middle East at the end of the month. I would appreciate your prayers for Rod, for all of our men and women serving in the military, and for the families who support them and await their safe return home. May God watch over them and keep them safe.
