We begin this week's Elm Grove Echoes with some wonderful news shared by Marilyn Suber, daughter of the late Mrs. J. P. Cummings. Marilyn was delighted to announce the arrival of Mrs. Cummings' twin great-great-grandsons, born last Thursday, May 28th. Leland Kendall weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and Lincoln Matthew weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces. We are happy to report that both boys are healthy and doing well, and their mother is doing wonderfully, too. Congratulations to the family on these precious new additions and the joy they bring to all who know them.
Once again, residents are reminded to mark their calendars for the annual Elm Grove Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry and Fundraiser on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 5 p.m. at the fire station. This community tradition is always a great evening of good food, fellowship, and support for the men and women who serve our area. If you would like additional information or would like to make a donation, contact Doug Chapman at 325-792-6431. Donations may also be mailed to P.O. Box 113, Richland Springs, Texas 76871. We hope to see a great turnout as neighbors and friends come together to support our volunteer fire department.
Congratulations to the Richland Springs ISD Class of 2026 on reaching this important milestone. I can’t help but reflect on how quickly the years have passed. Several of these young men and women were students in my second-grade classroom years ago, and I was later privileged to serve as their principal. It has been a joy to watch them grow into the remarkable individuals they are today. They are an outstanding group of young men and women, and I have no doubt they will accomplish great things in the years ahead. Wherever life takes them, I am confident they will continue to make a positive impact on their communities and represent Richland Springs with pride. Congratulations, graduates, and best wishes for a bright and successful future.
COYOTES FIGHT, NEVER DIE
One feature I am excited to add to Elm Grove Echoes is a weekly spotlight on a local artisan, vendor, or small business from northwest San Saba County. We have so many talented and hardworking people in our community, and I look forward to sharing their stories with our readers. If you own a business, create handmade items, offer a service, or know someone who does, please contact me with your business information. I would love the opportunity to help showcase the people and businesses that make our area unique.
As we welcome the month of June, I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful week filled with family, friends, and the many blessings of country life. Thank you to everyone who has called, texted, and offered encouragement as Elm Grove Echoes returns to the pages of the newspaper. I would love to hear more news from across our community. Whether it's a family celebration, a new baby, a graduation, a special anniversary, a community event, or simply news about a neighbor, please feel free to call, text, or email me. Your stories help keep our community connected, and I welcome your feedback and suggestions as we continue sharing the happenings of Elm Grove and the surrounding area. Until next week, take care, be kind to one another, and don't forget to give a wave when you meet a neighbor on the road.
