The Richland Springs Report

Congratulations to our 2026 graduates. May God be with them as they spread their wings and head away from their home nests. We wish them all success and prosperity in their new life. Congratulations to the parents who pushed and prodded to get their graduate over the finish line. Congratulations to the teachers who encouraged and mentored them on their journey. The job is finished for now.

Summer is approaching, even though it hasn’t been too warm lately. There are several programs that will take place starting in June. Of special interest is the Convoy of Hope Summer Feeding Program. Volunteers will pick up food supplies of nonperishable foods on June 10th. Volunteers will be needed to sort and package the supplies. The first distribution will be on June 13th. The First Baptist Church will be the distribution point for this program. Other churches in Richland Springs will aide in the distribution. We need every family in Richland Springs that has children to take advantage of this program. If you have children, please come and pick up food for your family. You can share it with others or let us know if someone in our rural areas needs food. There will be four distributions over the summer, two in June and two in July. Notices will be put on the Remind page for the school. If you are adults with no children, please come by and make use of the Food Pantry. The Convoy will be giving us supplies for 125 families. Please take advantage of the food distributions. If you are homebound, someone could bring you food. If you have any questions, please contact Debbie Phelan on her cell 325205-0812.

VBS will be June 22-25 in the evening. Mrs. Perry is the coordinator again this year. Keep your eyes peeled for more information. If you have volunteered in the past, your help will be appreciated. Our goal is to raise our children in the Lord.

The school is not providing school supplies this year, but several of the churches are helping with those families who may have difficulties. Please contact the church. The church will be offering rides to San Saba in July for the annual back to school supply day. Date, time and location will be determined shortly. There will be backpack, hoodies, and shoes for distribution. Exact details will be posted shortly.

The Preservation Society will have a community luncheon on Sunday the 31st. This has turned out to be such a wonderful community event. May I also point out the food is delicious? Thank you to everyone who brings their favorite dish. All proceeds go to repairs for the historic bank building. I was asked if there will be a plaque honoring those generous folks who donated money for the windows. The answer is yes and includes those who made donations in the past. I hope to see everyone next Sunday. I want to apologize to any members who did not receive a timely notice that the May meeting was cancelled.

Hendrick Medical has made significant changes in their facility and staff. The RSPS would like to give them an opportunity to come and outline their program to the community. A date has not yet been chosen, but we hope many community members will attend to listen to and question the Hendrick professionals.

Please continue to pray for our country, our President, our Congress, the battle with Iran and the war in Ukraine. There is much unrest in the country and world. Now that school is out, prayer is needed for the gangs of young people randomly storming areas. Our Jewish friends and neighbors need prayer as well. Praise the Lord for our beautiful rain. I had almost three inches. I guess the sun will come out and start toasting us. Have a great summer, and most of all don’t forget to pray for the protection of our precious troops and their families. Memorial Day is the day we honor those who didn’t come home. God bless America.
