I’m sitting here at the computer watching my lovely blue sky turn into an angry gray sky littered with lightening. Counting the time between the lightening and the thunder, the storm is about five miles away. Hot and muggy has turned to not cold and windy. It will make for good sleeping tonight. I will have to open my windows and enjoy the cool breeze. I do hope the hail goes around us. Thank you, Lord, for the rain.
Chrissy, Bobby, and I went to the Alumni Banquet last night. There was quite a crowd attending this 100th anniversary. I wish I had written down some of the amazing facts that were presented. I was too busy eating the delicious food provided by the Bailey’s Coyote General Store. One couple graduated in 1956. At least two couples had been married over 60 years. The commemorative coins that were produced for the anniversary are first class. If you were unable to go, I’ve been told there are some left. If you would like to purchase one, please contact Frank Pearce, Christy Perry, or Laura Garcia. The coins are $20.00 each. I would love to see some of our more recent classes come to the banquet. Bralei Lusty Clardy, class of 2016, was the only recent graduate attending. This is an impressive tradition and well worth the time it takes to meet many past graduates. They have a unique viewpoint of our little school.
I spoke with Thomas Lee Alston’s brother and nephew. They were interested in the building progress. Now that the windows are complete, we will be working on a plaque for all our donors who made the windows possible. Donna Hill was given the past records from Ann Aston, so we will be able to thank everyone in the past who has donated money for the windows.
I was also apprised of a unique landmark in our area that I didn’t know existed. It’s called the Soldier’s Waterhole. It’s off CR 412 near Onion Creek. It’s in McCulloch County, but it is well known to many residents of San Saba County. Robert E. Lee and some of his soldiers used the waterhole to replenish and rest. Apparently, the monument needs care. Does anyone know who might be responsible for its maintenance? If no one is responsible, I have several people who would gladly see about cleaning up around the monument.

Please pray for the families of RJ Patterson and Donna Adams. They will be missed by their families and friends. We have several fighting cancer including my son-in-law Mark and Vicky Moreno had a return of her cancer. The last weeks of school are hectic and seem to drag out forever. Please pray for teachers, and please keep your students in school. Pray for the wars around the world and peace in our country. Our governmental parties need to work together without name-calling. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families.
