San Saba High School art students celebrated a major achievement this past Saturday as their collaborative mural was auctioned for an impressive $21,000 at the annual Catkins Ball.
The 2024–2025 art students worked together to create a vibrant depiction of downtown San Saba in the 1950s. Each student contributed an individual 5' x 5' canvas square, which was later assembled into a striking, unified mural that captures both the town’s historical charm and the students’ creativity.
A portion of the auction pro-ceeds will directly benefit the San Saba High School Art Department, helping fund supplies, future projects, and expanded opportunities for students. The remaining funds will support the broader San Saba community.
The San Saba High SchoolArt Department extends its sincere thanks to Commercial National Bank in San Saba for placing the winning bid and for its meaningful support of student artists.
As the mural finds its new home, its legacy will continue— serving as both a symbol of student achievement and a reminder of what can happen when art and community come together.
