The Richland Springs Report

Praise the Lord, we didn’t get the big storms that flooded or destroyed areas, but we still need more rain. I had to drag out my coat again because that wind, damp, and lower temperatures were too nasty to go outside in short sleeves. Another month or two and we’ll be wishing for a little relief.

The Men’s Prayer breakfast was held on Saturday. This meeting is open to a men in the area who enjoy meeting and sharing with men in the community. Everyone is welcome.

The Ladies Quilting group attended the Quilting show in Brownwood. Our own Toni had a quilt entry. She did not bring home the grand prize, but she is an incredibly talented lady.

Thank you to the people who attended the Community Luncheon last Sunday. I can’t tell you how wonderful and significant this almost monthly luncheon is. Imagine the areas best cooks preparing a dish, bringing it to the community center, and then paying to eat lunch. The fellowship is great, the food is delicious and it benefits the Preservation Society and their efforts to restore the old bank building. Thank you to Paige Moats, who comes early to prepare the room and is the last to leave. As for the guests, you are the best in the world.

The Senior class of Richland Springs will hold their annual fund-raising event at the rodeo arena on Sunday, the 26th. Please join them for the noon hamburger feast and live auction. Please come and support our 2026 graduating class. All proceeds go to the seniors.

Congratulations to Layne Ward and his coach Mrs. Eckert. Layne is headed to state after his tennis win last week. He’s going to be busy because he is also headed to regionals in track. Brice Roesler, Ethan and Evan Deeds, and Cohen Ethridge are also headed to Regionals in track events. Congratulations and good luck. Best of luck to our UIL Academic Regional qualifiers who will be headed to Blinn College @ Brenham on the 23rd.

Our elementary students K-2 are headed to Millican Pecan on the 29th for a field trip.

Our students are still STAAR testing this week and next week. On behalf of the school, thank you to all the volunteers who donated at the blood drive last week.

Debbie Phelan attended the Convoy of Hope meeting regarding the summer feeding program. There will be four food drops at the First Baptist Church, and they are needing children to sign up for the food.

I believe they will deliver some to homes if there is no transportation available. Otherwise pick up can be at the church. I hope many of our families will sign up for this free food. A notice will be sent home in May once details have been confirmed. Please make use of the food pantry; it’s for the use of the people in this community. No church membership is needed.

Once May begins, there is a constant stream of activities. We’re calling all alumni to attend the Alumni Banquet on Saturday, the 9th. Let’s get some recent graduates to attend this unique event.

Please pray for our country, this Iran war, the people of Ukraine, our government, and our President. Don’t forget our sick folks and our shut-ins. You may not know who is needing prayer, but God knows. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
