Our track teams traveled to Zephyr last week. Our JV boys results are as follows: In the 200 meter dash John Irvin placed 1st and Alex Peterson placed 5th. In the 400 meter dash, John Irvin placed 1st and Alex Peterson placed 5th. In the long jump, John Irvin placed 1st and Alex Peterson placed 5th.
For the JV girls, Susan Lane placed 6th in the discus.
For the varsity boys, Weston Woolsey placed 5th in the 800 meter run. Jaxon White placed 5th in the 110 meter hurdles and 2nd place in the 300 meter hurdles. Cayden Houston placed 1st in long jump and 1st in high jump. Uriah Valdez placed 1st in shot put and 5th in discus. Robert Sawyer placed 4th in pole vault.
For the varsity girls, Preslee Duggan placed 5th in the 1600 meter run. Tilar Turman placed 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. Hannah Sims placed 4th in the discus.
District golf was played this week in San Saba. For the boys team, Jaxon White placed 3rd with a score of 88. Tatum Shanklin placed 4th with a 91. The team (Jaxon White, Tatum Shanklin, Weston Woolsey, Robert Sawyer, and Uriah Valdez) will advance to regionals.
For the girls, Ella Owen shot 126 and Morgan Palermo shot 127. Ella was 3 shots from advancing to regionals as a medalist.
In addition to sports, we had a few students compete at district academic UIL over the weekend. Theresa Turner placed 5th in calculator applications. Sebastian Mota placed 2nd in mathematics and 5th in ready writing. The mathematics team (Sebastian Mota, Taylor Randolph, and Uriah Valdez) placed 3rd. Ella Owen placed 4th in copy editing, 3rd in spelling, and 1st in ready writing. We will have four students advancing to regionals.
