I’m grateful for the four tenths rain we received in this area but disappointed that the multiple days of rain did not happen. We need several inches of rain to support the trees in the area and farmland crops. My son in Dallas received several inches in two hours. It flooded his back yard. I can bypass the tornadoes of Oklahoma, but it would be nice to get another healthy rain.
We’re one week away from spring break. I think we are all needing a rest. Most of the teachers will be giving tests before spring break. Please make sure your students are at school for test review. We are rapidly approaching the final stretch before the end of the year. This is when we have to buckle down and get the year done.
The youth basketball group had a very successful season. Between them our little ones earned first, second and third place wins. There will be more in the paper later.
Upcoming events: March 9th junior high will compete in a track meet in San Saba. March 10th the high school athletes will participate in a track meet in Ira. On the 11th, parents please be aware that Balfour will be at the school for delivery of rings, cap and gowns and letterman orders. On the 13th, One Act Play will compete in the district One Act Play contest. Spring break is from the 13th to the 24th. There will be another track meet on the 26th.
The school administration, the school board members and staff continue to work towards a return to financial security. There is plenty of blame to pass around, but the goal now is to correct mistakes made over the last five or more years and get back on steady ground. My greatest regret in all of this is the loss of one of the finest principals I have ever had. Mrs. Wilson is an awesome person who would have strengthened this school in all areas. Her ethics and school standards were outstanding. Rochelle is blessed to have her supervising their students. Now let’s get our school back on track. Coyotes fight… never die.
I heard Vicky Moreno was doing better with her chemo treatments. Please send prayers for Ricky and Micki Allen. Our condolences go out to Pastor Holtzclaw in the passing of his wife. We need a thousand prayers to go for President Trump as he works to put Iran out of the missile business and for our troops in harm’s way. Pray for our country, our government and our elections. We are a great country filled with smart, common-sense people. We will rise above the challenges and stand strong once again. God bless America.
