Cherokee ISD News

Track season has officially commenced here at Cherokee ISD. Last week, both our junior high and high school track teams traveled to Brady for their meet. This week the junior high track meet will be in San Saba while the high school tracksters will travel to Johnson City. Good luck to our runners!

Mrs. Parrish shared: “A select group of 11th and 12th graders from Cherokee High School participated in TSTC Waco Campus TechXperience on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, along with more than 900 other students from high schools all across Texas. The event was an opportunity for students to learn more about the future of technical education and careers, specifically programs such as building construction, plumbing, electrical, automotive, machining, welding, cybersecurity, computer networking and diesel repair. Cherokee students who participated in the event were Lilian Anderson, Kolton Bench, Cayden Houston, Tyler Kaine, Susan Lane, Carlos Preciado, Theresa Turner, Max Williams and Weston Woolsey.”

What a great opportunity for our students to learn more about different career paths.

Last week, our elementary students celebrated Read Across America Week. Each day, we had guest readers, prizes, and read alouds. Lower elementary kicked off their March Madness reading bracket, while upper elementary started a reading challenge as well. They are being challenged to read books all across the United States. Each time they read one, they are responsible for coloring it on a map. Upper elementary also ended the week with a book tasting where they tried different books from multiple genres while munching on snacks. This year the theme was “travel,” so they ate snacks from different countries. We are so thankful for our community members who took the time to come read to our students. This is always a highlight!

Next week is Spring Break, so we hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing time. We will resume classes as normal on Monday, March 23rd.
