New window coverings at Methodist Church

Have you wondered what is going on with the windows at the Methodist Church? Well they are getting new plexiglass covers to preserve them from the elements. These covers are being provided by Heritage Stained Glass out of Waco, and they should protect these priceless windows for the next 50-75 years!

Our windows were made in the early 1900's and are a series of Painted Glass scenes depicting many Christian stories and symbols common to the Christian Faith and Methodist Church. The windows should be complete by Easter Sunday!

The process includes Mudding the windows which is just like it sounds. They rub a mud compound all over the windows, which not only cleans away the dirt and grime but patches small cracks and holes that have occurred. Then they wipe off the mud, and they will look sparkling new.

After that they will install the protective plexiglass covering in Anodized Aluminum Frames. Unlike our previous covers, these will not yellow or crack from the sun.

Our Church was completed in 1921 and is still in great shape. We want to keep it that way so we are currently in the midst of a Restoration Renovation Project that will probably take another 2-3 years to complete. The windows are our final project for the Exterior and then we will move to the interior.
