Science Mill offers two STEM-based events in February

STEM learning continues as the Science Mill in Johnson City offers two educational and entertaining activities for families during the month of February.

Sips & STEM - The Science of Coffee

Marcos Rodriguez of Greater Goods Coffee Company will lead an interactive workshop that invites guests to explore coffee the way professionals do—through smell, taste, and science. 

After learning about coffee’s chemistry, origin, and extraction methods, participants will experience a guided tasting of eight freshly roasted coffees from around the world.

Includes:

-Guided smelling and tasting (cupping) techniques

-Freshly ground coffee to explore aroma

-Side-by-side coffee comparisons

-A structured tasting period with breaks for questions

-Partnered tasting and sensory note sheets for reflection

Sips & STEM is offered for ages 18+. Tickets for this activity are $18 and must be purchased in advance, and do not include general admission to the museum.

Engineering Day

A hands-on experience designed to spark curiosity and creative problem-solving.

Visitors will build, test, and experiment through engaging engineering challenges led by engineers from the Austin Branch of the Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Engineering Day is designed for all ages and is included with admission.
