The City of San Saba was in shock from the sudden passing of Police Chief Steven Newkirk. A huge crowd gathered for End of Watch for Chief Newkirk, a great loss for the City of San Saba Police Dept. Flags were lowered to half staff during the ceremony.
Richland Springs 6th Annual Trade Days was a great success. The turnout was full of energy and nothing short of amazing.

San Saba High School students gets Statewide Music Award, Jessica Nguyen, Jesus Garcia, Evelyn Davila, and Marlane Rodriquez. The group made the All-Region Band and all named Texas Music Scholars by the Texas Music Educators Association.

Diaster Declaration: July 5th Texas governor issued a disaster declaration for 20 plus counties after heavy rainfall and flash flooding for Texas, including San Saba county.
Businesses and vehicles were caught in flood waters. Sheriff Deputy Austin Quarles rescued a disabled person from a vehicle at the underpass on Hwy 16 North.
Bucking Good BBQ, Ricks One Stop, and Baskin Insurance received flood water damage, along with City Cemetery and homes north of Wallace Street in town.
Judge Fauley’s words for San Saba: “We are a farm and ranch community, that means we acknowledge our dependence on God for our lives and livelihood. We stand together as a county in strength and we fight back. We are San Saba County”.

A fatal crash on Hwy 16 claims the life of one, and Care-Flite airlifts one. The roadway is shutdown for three hours for first responders to work crash. San Saba Police Dept, Hamilton EMS, San Saba County Sheriffs Dept, along with San Saba Volunteer Fire Dept. were at the scene.
