The Richland Springs Report

How about that, the last day of the year for the last column of the year. It’s been a whirlwind year. The front coming in from the north as I‘m typing reminds me of this past year. I love my Texas weather. Today we had short sleeves and tomorrow we’ll be back in long sleeves. We do need another good rain or two. I guess the last of the leaves and acorns will be on the ground tomorrow morning.

I’m trying to get motivated to start another quilt. My son Scott and his wife Heather would like a king-size Christmas quilt; I have material that my daughter Tracy bought to make a John Deere quilt. She won’t get to see it, but I will finish it next year. Bro Mack and his wife Jen bought me some scripture quilt squares that need to be made into a quilt, and my Chrissy bought me black and white squares to make into a quilt for myself. I have projects but no desire to get to work.

Part of the issue is the drama taking place at school. Appar-ently, we have not been diligent about managing our resources. Mr. Friar and Mr. Roesler are committed to restoring our financial security, but I the meantime, we must make serious economies. This uncertainty tends to put students and teachers on edge. Our school board is working hard to get us back to the good financial standing that we had when Mr. Fowler was our administrator.

We've lost some beloved community members tis year. We lost our daughter, Tracy. It seems like yesterday that we lost Gerald McKee, George Hill, Johnie Reeves, and this week we will lay to rest Billy Pearce in our Richland Springs Cemetery. We have shut-ins like Vera Ralston, Mickie and Ricky Allen and several others. For those of you who have been watching, Bernice Adams is doing well after her cataract surgery. Please remember your friends and neighbors that have been struggling.

Please put your prayer caps on for rain, for peace, for civility and cooperation in our government, and for safety for our police officers, border patrol personnel, and our precious troops around the world. Pray for their families. Have a safe New Year.
