I remember the time my wife got in our car and went to the mountains. As I sat outdoors in the still cool crisp air looking at the mountains, I was so impressed with their grandeur and beauty. All the stunning colors of the leaves were like looking at a picture painted by a great artist that was put on a living canvas. It brought to my inner being a sense of awesomeness, calmness and joy. Being there reminded me of something in the Bible.
It has a lot to say about God and what it is like to be in His presence. Great splendor and magnificence radiate around Him. It says He is clothed with beauty and majesty much like a great king in His palace or on His throne, (Psalm 93:1, 96:6). He would not wear everyday street clothes like a commoner. It also goes on to say He is surrounded with and by great, pleasing, im-pressive beauty, (Psalm 104:1, 145:5). There is also magnificence and splendor beyond our wildest dreams in His presence, (1 Chronicles 16:25-35).
A car took us to the mountains so we could see all that beauty just as Jesus Christ is the only one or way we will ever be able to stand in the presence of God and see His beauty and majesty, (John 3:16 &14:6, Jude 24&25). Let us try to find time and a place to think about God.
See you in Church next Sunday.
