The Wiley B. Murray Post No. 27 held its quarterly meeting on November 13th at the American Legion Hall in San Saba, Texas. Commander Jan K. Huffstetler presided after an opening prayer. Two chairs were covered in memory, and reserved seating for Lt. Wiley B. Murray and MIAPOWs. Eleven Legionnaires and 11 guests attended, with a potluck Mexican meal served to 22 participants prior to formal proceedings. Minutes from the prior meeting were reviewed and approved.
Key highlights from old business included recognition as 'Post of the Month' for September, following the Texas Historical Marker Dedication at the City National Bank, with Adjutant Ross J. Cox, Sr., designated 'Legionnaire of the Month.' The post's 100-page history book has been finalized and distributed to the San Saba Public Library, San Saba High School, Cherokee High School, and Richland Springs High School libraries, with ordered copies provided to members. There are only three copies left available for sale. After these are disposed of, there will be no more copies available.

bookmarks to Cherokee and Richland Springs schools, and the adjutant to San Saba High School. A $10,000 summer flood relief grant was allocated to 18 recipients, in coordination with local officials and assistance from Stephanie Dozier of the Hill Country Community Action Association.
New business approved to designate the January 2026 meeting as the annual session. Membership stands at 41, including eight paid-up-for-life members; 2026 dues collection is underway.
John Craig Stencil presented a program on the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack, highlighting his father's service as Officer of the Day on the USS Tennessee.
With no additional items, the meeting adjourned ceremonially.
