Cherokee ISD News

Last week was such a fun week here at Cherokee ISD! Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders traveled to Johnson City. They had a field trip to the Science Mill. They enjoyed exploring the hands-on parts of the museum and watching a 3-D movie. They also did a STEM lab where they had to create a car that could go down a zip line. It was interesting to see our students problem solve and learn to work together to accomplish their goal.

We also had our annual PTC sponsored Fall Festival. Our costume contest winners in the birth – 5th grade category were: 1st place-Cara Sue Broyles as Captain Underpants, 2nd place-Faith Dobbs as the crazy cat lady, and 3rd place Leah Scott as Sandy from Grease. In the 6th grade and up category: 1st place – Georgia Broyles as Mr. Clean, 2nd place Kam Holt as Ghostface, and 3rd place Bentley Morris as Silent Shady. In the group category: 1st place – Paxley and Randy Weeks and Macey Forehand as Cops and Robber, 2nd place – Avery Wilson and Brian Rogers as Beauty and the Beast, 3rd place – Talli, Chase, and Kennedi Ellis as Winnie the Pooh Crew. We also had 4 staff members receive pies to the face: Mr. Bordner, Ms. McDaniel, Coach Johanson, and Ms. Sharkey. Officer Daly was also pied at the pep rally. Thank you for being such great sports! We had a good showing at the festival despite the rain and the venue change. We are so grateful for everyone who pitched in. It is such a fun tradition. We are in need of a new coordinator, so if you’re interested, let a PTC officer know.

In addition to our PTC needing some help with Fall Festival next year, our Booster Club needs your help too. We need a concession stand coordinator for basketball season and we need parents of athletes (not just basketball) to volunteer to work shifts. Please check our Facebook page to sign up to help. You can also contact a booster club officer.

Our junior high football team picked up a game against Rocksprings on Thursday. It was a tight, hard fought game. It was neck and neck the entire time. However the opponent came out on top. Our varsity team played against Pawnee Friday night and came out with a solid win of 67-0.
