Did You Know? San Saba County is Text-to-911 Capable!
If you’re in an emergency and unable to make a voice call — you can send a text message to 911 for help.
When to text:
• If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired.
• If making a voice call would put you in danger (such as during a home invasion or domestic situation).
• If you’re in an area with limited cell service but can still send a text.
When to call instead:
Always call 911 when you
can — texting should only be used when calling isn’t possible.
How to text 911:
1 Open a new text message.
2 Type 911 in the “To” field. 3 In the message, include your location and the type of emergency.
4 Stay with your phone — the dispatcher may text you back with questions or instructions.
