Local Volunteer Firefighters visit San Saba Elementary School

Last Tuesday, San Saba Elementary celebrated Fire Prevention Week with the help of our local volunteer firefighters. This annual event is always a fun and exciting learning experience!

Some crucial information was shared with the students, emphasizing several important safety precautions: staying low to the ground by crawling to avoid smoke inhalation, having a family safety plan in place, fire alarm maintenance, and water rescue techniques.

Some students had the exciting opportunity to become “junior firefighters” by participating in role-playing activities in different situations. A highlight of Fire Prevention Week is the chance for students to see the firefighters’ massive machinery up close. Watching the firefighters demonstrate their skills and seeing water spray from the huge hose never fails to captivate the students and foster admiration for the firefighters’ work.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to Jack Blossman, Gavin Faulkner, Will Cooley, Carter Eden, Kara Dotson, and Dixie Atchison for taking time out of their day to spend with us. SSES truly appreciates your efforts in helping keep our community safe!
