Recently Wayne Gatliff a native of San Saba and current resident, along with his daughter Lisa and son-in-law Randy, travelled to Lindale, Texas, to present a handmade gift of appreciation to two of the restaurants that fed San Saba after the floods.
Wayne remembered how wonderful the catfish was from Petty's Steaks and Catfish, so that was the first stop. They were fortunate enough to meet with the Owner Jeff Crews, and to have some of his delicious Catfish and Chicken Fried Steak. You can cut the Chicken Fried Steak with a fork it is so tender! Jeff was able to join the Gatliff family while they ate and explained how his trip to come and feed San Saba developed.
He said that he met many wonderful people while serving in San Saba.
Before leaving Petty's, Jeff called his friend Craig Wood who is the Owner of Brisket Love Barbeque, which is the other restaurant that came and served their delicious barbeque in San Saba. Mr. Wood was doing a large catering event and was unavailable for a meeting, so Jeff offered to deliver his gift to him at a later time.
Each appreciation gift was handmade by Wayne Gatliff and was a Texas shape decorated with Indian artifacts. Each one had an artifact with 'Lindale' on it and an artifact with 'San Saba' on it, placed where each city would be and signifying appreciation for their willingness to travel approximately five hours to be of service.
Mr. Gatliff and family were so happy to be able to travel to Lindale to personally say a very special Thank You and to enjoy more wonderful food! If you are ever in the Lindale area, be sure to stop by Petty's and Brisket Love to enjoy their delicious food. You will not be disappointed!
