Lampasas, Texas –The Lampasas Salt Works Camp No. 2353 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) proudly announces its 3rd Central Texas SCV Camp Muster, scheduled for October 17-18, 2025, in San Saba. This gathering honors Confederate heritage by bringing together history enthusiasts, SCV members, and the public for black powder shooting competitions, shared meals, and fellowship.
Earlier this year, on May 3, 2025, C S Farm hosted a black powder shooting competition attended by 35 individuals, including 28 shooters. Among them, 15 competed in pistol events and 13 participated in rifle competitions. The proceeds from this event supported the 'Knights of the Golden Circle' Texas Historical marker project, which is currently pending approval, and funded additional cemetery cleaning efforts.
The muster begins on Friday, October 17, with gates opening at 9:00 AM for campers. The evening features a casual Kickoff BBQ at 6:00 PM, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect and relax. Saturday's activities start with registration at 8:00 AM, followed by a safety briefing at 8:30 AM led by the Range Master. The pistol competition is scheduled for 9:00 AM, with rifle events beginning at 9:30 AM. At noon, participants will be served a fried catfish lunch with all the trimmings. The afternoon continues with additional rifle competitions at 1:30 PM, an award presentation, and this year, artillery demonstrations. Three artillery pieces are expected to be on site.
“The Central Texas SCV Camp Muster connects us with our shared history while fostering camaraderie,” stated Camp Commander Michael Oliver. Chartered in 1896, the Sons of Confederate Veterans is a historical, patriotic, and nonpolitical organization devoted to preserving the true history of the 1861-1865 period.
