Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB) has accomplished many projects to make San Saba a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful place to live, and in most, is assisted by the city employees. Despite the city’s busy, everyday duties, they assist KSSB in their projects whether it is building walls, erecting stone welcome signs, building new landscaping, in hauling soil and flowers during KSSB’s planting and beautification efforts, helping in the collection and hauling of litter, cleanup station setup, Volunteer meal cooking during their cleanup efforts, in the collection of bottles or tires in their recycling and educational efforts, in field trip educational tours for recycling and clean water/ water conservation efforts, street cleanups, in school activities, in keeping the parks clean and beautiful and/or in code enforcement, these employees are there ready to assist, and KSSB greatly appreciates their assistance.
On Thursday, September 18, the KSSB Board of Directors-Gale Ivy, Rhonda Killion, Marcie Butler, Kathleen Hawkins, Lucia Martinez, Debbie Shahan, Sandra Vaughn, and Cissy Williams-demonstrated their appreciation to the city employees by hosting an appreciation breakfast. The ladies brought delicious breakfast desserts such as blueberry muffins, chocolate cookies, cowboy cookies, cinnamon rolls, donuts and donut snacks, fruit turnovers, and coconut bars, complementing the entrees of breakfast tacos or biscuits with sausage gravy. Chocolate milk, orange juice, and water were also available to go with the breakfast foods. KSSB thanked the group, but in turn, the City also recognized the ladies for what they do and thanked the KSSB Board.
The Directors were gifted with “working” tools—a twogallon bucket, garden snips, pruners, and a pair of gloves—in an attempt to make their work a bit easier as they continue to work hard for this community.
All these great people are all VOLUNTEERS, whether they are Board Directors or city employees, going the extra mile to get done what they do. When you see them, please thank them for doing what they do to KEEP SAN SABA BEAUTIFUL.
