Mason & San Saba September 18, 2025
Receipts totaled 3,168 head. The market was softer this week due to the futures board being down this last week and we are also seeing cooler nights and warm days which creates additional health problems (increases cost and breakevens) on the calves going to grass, wheat, or feedlots. These cattle are still at one the highest levels in history. The stocker steers were $8-$15 lower after last weeks increase with 5 steers 471 lbs at $485.00 ($2284.35). The stocker heifers were $10-$15 lower. The feeder steers were steady to $5 lower with 19 steers 769 lbs at $329.00 ($2530.01). The feeder heifers were $4-$11 lower with 16 head 679 lbs at $354.00 ($2403.66). The packer cows were $4-$7 lower and packer bulls were $4 lower. Pairs and bred cows were steady and in very strong demand.
