The River City Band started its fall rehearsal season on Monday, September 22nd, in preparation to play a Christmas concert during San Saba’s “Sip and Stroll” celebration in December. The concert will be prior to the lighted Christmas parade. The band has been playing this concert for several years and looks forward each year to playing all of our Christmas favorites including Hymns and Pop Songs.
As the band begins a new season, we are always looking to add new members. This year we are particularly interested in finding a person to play the tuba with us; we have two BBb tubas available. We need another baritone player and we have two of these instruments available.
We also have a Bass Clarinet available and remind anyone interested that it plays exactly like the smaller one.
We also need another French Horn player, and we have two of these instruments also available. Finally, we are in need of a Snare Drummer and an Auxiliary Percussionist.
We have a variety of Percussion instruments including a full Drum Trap Set and all other kinds of instruments like Jingle Bells, a Slap Board, Triangle and a Xylophone, etc.
In addition to the above, we also have Flutes, Clarinets, an Alto Saxophone, a Trumpet and several Trombones.
San Saba has had many good High School Bands over the years and this community is full of those good musicians. (Not to mention those here from another community.) We would like to challenge you to join us and participate in a wonderful way to serve your community. And your commitment will only require one rehearsal a month for one hour and two concerts a year: our Christmas Concert mentioned above and a “Trailer Riding Concert” for the morning parade celebrating our annual Rodeo in August.
If you played any of the above, we welcome you, so please accept the challenge and give Bill Grusendorf a call at 325-372-5821.
