The Richland Springs Report

This week is benchmark week at school. I presume that is a statewide issue. I’m not sure if it is to replace the STAAR test or is being added to the test to see if everyone is on track.

Report cards will go out next week. The school year is settling down; the students and teachers are getting into a regular routine.

Hopefully, we will have an outstanding year.

Our varsity Coyotes are improving with each game. The Friday night game was called with the Mercy Rule against Nueces Canyon. They were invited to attend the Fifth Quarter meal but decided to head home. We appreciate their willingness to travel the distance to play our teams. The Varsity volleyball girls did not fare as well but gave it their all. The team is in a building stage since we lost several girls to Zepher. Coach Eckert and the girls have our wholehearted support. Reese Eckert took fifth place in her recent junior high cross-country run. The varsity girls did well in their meet.

Mrs. Smith has been around the campus meeting with students and encouraging their UIL academic meets. She is a volunteer star. She organizes the subject files and coaches the oral events from elementary to high school. Now if we could get Mrs. Barker and Mrs. Miller to come and train our art smart and music memory, we could really get the train rolling.

Saturday, September 27th, is the 2nd annual Sandbur Boogie. Come one, come all to this fun community event. Last year, a wide range of individuals and families had a fantastic time. This event is sponsored by the Beautification Committee. Rodeo gates will be open for the 7 p.m. start.

The nation is mourning the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I pray people will begin to understand that opinions can be debated respectfully and the world will go on living. No act of violence should be encouraged or celebrated. Let this be a time of understanding and civility. It’s time for the peacekeepers to speak and be heard, not the warmongers.

Pray for our nation, our government, our President, Congressional members, our sick and our elderly shut-ins, but most of all, our precious troops and their families.
