Last week, our Cherokee Indians junior varsity and varsity teams played against Leakey. While our JV did not pull out a victory, our varsity team showed up! The Leakey Eagles ran away with the game in the first half earning a 30 point lead at the half. Our boys were rejuvenated at half time though, and came out fighting. They quickly surpassed the 30 points Leakey had on the scoreboard and did not allow any more touchdowns. The final score was 80-30. Congratulations to our Indians on your perseverance. It paid off!
Our school board meeting that was originally planned for this week has been moved to September 15th. We will have a cross country meet in Goldthwaite on the 10th, and our junior high football team will play in Jonesboro Thursday night at 6 p.m. Friday night is senior night and homecoming. We will take on Round Rock Christian at 7:30 p.m. at Indian Stadium.
We are deep into the first six weeks now and routines should be solid. Check in with your students about their grades, assignments, tests, and projects. Parent involvement has so much to do with our students’ successes. We are glad to be in a partnership with our amazing community.
