The 3rd grade students at San Saba Elementary really outdid themselves with their first reading project! We have some very creative and talented students to say the least.
The project was derived from the novel study of Because of Winn-Dixie. In the novel, Gloria Dump has a bottle tree in her back yard in which each bottle represented a mistake. Opal and Gloria Dump talk about how the bottles are a reminder of those mistakes, how to learn from them, and how to move forward.
The students were asked to decorate a bottle with a theme related to a regret or mistake they have made in the past so that we could create our very own “bottle tree.”
